Exercising Raubbau (or overexploiting) a forest means harming it to such an extent, that it can´t recover within a few years, or destroying it entirely. It is also called Raubbau if the forest is 'managed' by timber companies or turned into so-called 'development projects' (social incompatibility) without the consent of the habitants living in or from the forest.

Wood is a renewable resource and would be in fact a thoroughly environment-friendly product with a promising future, if it weren´t for the problems occurring in its production: forests are being destroyed worldwide with increasing speed. This is happening against the better judgment and against the huge efforts of many to stop it. Every week an area of forest as big as the German federal state of Saarland is being cleared.

It´s necessary that all parties concerned work together to stop the destruction of the rain forests thus saving ourselves from the dramatic consequential damage: forest dwellers, the timber industry, timber trade and consumers. With this brochure we want to inform you, a person employed in the timber trade, about the significance of forests and their condition, and explain the role of the timber trade in the destruction – or conservation – of forests.

With this information you´ll be prepared for the questions of critical customers and be able to provide them with competent advice on the choice of the right wood products for their individual purpose.

The future of the forests depends on YOUR knowledge and specialist advice, too!
